The Handbook of Mind-Body Medicine for Primary Care introduces an evidence-based mind-body approach to the medical and behavioral problems of primary care patients. Evidence-based mind-body practice draws on the best available scientific research, advocating the integration of well-documented mind-body therapies into primary health care. The handbook summarizes current mind-body practice and provides an overview of the basic techniques, including biofeedback, neurofeedback, relaxation therapies, hypnotherapy, cognitive-behavioral therapies, acupuncture, and spiritual therapies. The editors also thoroughly demonstrate the application of these techniques to common disorders such as headache, chronic pain, and essential hypertension, as well as anxiety, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, and sleep disorders.

This book is a real treasure trove of information by the world's leaders in the different areas it covers. It's humble title belies the rich lode of distilled wisdom it's editors have brought together. If your goal is to have a handy, easily accessible source for information on mind-body approaches to a plethora of different diagnostic categories, this book is the most authoritative source I've ever seen. It has a wealth of information on mind body, biofeedback, applied psychophysiology, self regulation and hypnosis approaches. While there are other, less current books available covering similar ground, this one does it in a practical, economical manner, timewise, getting to the point. covering the bases soyou are not developing a relationship with the book-- just getting the info you need to do your job or better understand how to more effectively and appropriately make referrals.By Robert Kall
As the current public information officer for the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, with 30+ years in the field, I consider myself an expert on who's who in the field. And this is one book that is full of the very best experts in their very specific areas.
VINE VOICE
Internist and Duke clinical Med Prof. Charles Lapp contributes a concise yet comprehensive and very accurate chapter on ME (CFS). And every statement is clearly backed by primary sources. All this is in stark contrast to almost all texts that cover more than just ME exclusively. Correctly explicates that depression is very unlikely to be a cause of ME.By Justin Reilly, esq.
Skimmed other parts of book which seemed accurate and balanced and substantively explained mind/body connections without overly complicated language thus rendering it ideal for all medical doctors and others with some working knowledge of physiology.
Highly Recommended!
