This is an outstanding book. It has been written specifically for those of us who want to understand the challenging issues surrounding development of information systems within healthcare. In particular, it tackles the complex socio-technical issues that make sharing of patient records extrordinarily difficult, if not impossible, to achieve. As the reader of a number of books and as author and co-author of a number of published papers in this field, I can say without fear or hesitation that this is the most useful book I have ever read on this challenging and enigmatic topic.

I would also strongly recommend it to anyone who wishes to understand the British National Health System's Shared Care Records Service and the underlying reasons for its difficulties.

In my view, this book will be an extremely useful asset to health IT strategists all over the world.
