I had taken the GRE Psychology once before a couple years ago, prior to finishing all my undergrad course requirements and without using a review resource. Needless to say, my scores weren't great so I retook it this year. I already had this book and started reviewing about 1.5 months before. I went through the whole thing, cover to cover once and highlighted, went through a second time and took detailed notes, and then converted all my handwritten notes to type, so I essentially ingested all the information three times. During this time I also created flash cards of my weak points, in particular, associations of people and their theories, and internet searched concepts I was unclear on. During this time I also took ALL the practices tests, including the ETS test twice; for a total of four tests. Each time my score got progressively better. Imagine how quickly my heart sank on test day when I open the first page and see that only 2 of the 6 questions relate to anything I had reviewed...

This book is for sure missing a whole section of questions on cognitive as well as a bunch on evolutionary psych (which almost neglected any psychological perspective). It also needs to go into further detail on abnormal, including the similarities between disorders.

To be honest ETS needs to update their practice test as well because I found that wasn't even a reliable example of the questions on the current revision of the test, and sure enough, that practice test was distributed starting in 2008..... Like the test hasn't been revised since then?? Same with the Kaplan review book; 2010?!

Not surprisingly I was disappointed by my test score when I received it this week. It was better than last time, but barely competitive for acceptance into any programs.
