In this new edition, the readibility has been enhanced with streamlined text, added subheadings, introductions, and conclusions to each chapter. The special needs of the elderly in all health care settings is the unifying element of this book. It emphasizes a balance of theory, clinical application of knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for the older adult population, and focuses on the practical components for their comprehensive rehabilitation. This book addresses and incorporates aspects of prevention, fitness, and wellness into the rehabilitative model of care for elders with and without pathological conditions.

Very, very little actual substance to this book. For example the section on postural changes in the elderly is less than 1/3 of a page long, lists only what they are - not why they occur, and the reference for the list is back to a book that C. Lewis wrote herself. Section on functional assessment of the elderly only has one assessment tool example. While I certainly would not recommend the book for an experienced clinician, I wouldn't even recommend it for a student.

I am a licensed physical therapist going back to tDPT school. This book was required in my course so I bought it, but it turned out to be a very informative book. It contained various evidence regarding geriatrics practice. The only down side, I think, was it is mono-color. Overall, it helped me review the physiological changes of aging and understand the general idea of geriatric rehab.
