This unique book closes the gap between psychology books and the research that made them possible. Its journey through the “headline history” of psychology presents 40 of the most famous studies in the history of the science, and subsequent follow-up studies that expanded their findings and relevance. Readers are granted a valuable insider's look at the studies that continue to be cited most frequently, stirred up the most controversy when they were published, sparked the most subsequent related research, opened new fields of psychological exploration, and changed most dramatically our knowledge of human behavior. For individuals with an interest in an introduction to psychology.

This book does an excellent job of summarizing the most important contributions of psychological research in its relatively young history. As a psychology professor, I plan to use this book in the classroom -- many of my colleagues already do. It gives students a great history lesson and also familiarizes them with past and current theories in the field of psychology. We especially love how the author includes more recent studies that have resulted from the original 40 studies -- current directions, so to speak. Great book!By Dr. Dena L. Matzenbacher
First off, if Amazon had a higher rating than five out of five, this book deserves that. I used this book in my AP Psychology class in high school. Every week, we read one to two studies and by the end of the year, we had finished them all. This was my first time taking a psychology course and I found this book to be amazing. The way the author presented the studies with the details was great. Each study is seven to eight pages and that was all that was necessary to get me hooked to this book. At the end of the year, when the teacher was collecting our books, I really wanted to keep mine, but I had to return it. So I went on Amazon and bought a used copy for a few bucks. This is a great book which has several studies that span the subject of general psychology. Highly recommended.By Akash Patel
