Excellent information. I am a new nurse practitioner and did not get this info in NP school. Really explains bacterial biological processes and how antibiotics target them, then reviews various bacteria, followed by usual therapies for the most common disease states. It finishes up with clinical scenarios and review questions, as well as helpful tables. Loved it, and plan to periodically review it. I had a lot of "AHA" moments. What does this book lack? It should explain how to read a culture and sensitivity report, and the concept of minimum inhibitory concentration.By Heidi H. Cross
Antibiotic Basics for Clinicians reads fairly quickly with lots of pictures and tables. This book talks about organisms separately from the drugs and has great appendixes for dosing. The book needs to have a more detailed discussion of clinical uses, drug interactions, and resistance for each drug. I kind of wish my professor had chosen another book, but she said that there were not many books like this one on the market.By Pink Palm Tree
