This book is very good at covering "what" drugs do and how they act. However, it covers no dosing information. If you want to know the "what" its a good buy. A little pricey for the average bear, though.By D. Johnson
"Peck & Hill" is well known as an excellent summary of the essential pharmacology required for an anaesthetic primary examination. In that regard, I would consider it a mandatory purchase for anyone attempting that exam.By σωφροσύνη
However, it only aims to be an overview of the material, so you will need to read more deeply in other texts. If one knew Peck & Hill cover to cover, I would guess you'd be 80% of the way there.
For anyone attempting an anaesthetic primary exam, I would recommend that:
(a) You buy your own copy!
(b) You read it once as an introduction to anaesthetic pharmacology. Then move on to deeper reading and study with other resources.
(c) You revisit the book towards the exam, as concise revision.
I didn't quite follow so neat a plan but I wish that I had. Nonetheless, the book will repaid me in spades, as I hope it will you.
Best of luck.
