This book is an excellent guide for the dental field. It is very well organized and concise, yet very informative. It is very easy to reference topics and the language is very clear. The spectrum of topics is vast, but not overwhelming. It covers subjects that are currently used in the dental office and will help with the DAT. It gives the reader clear information on topics such as material and techniques, management, procedures, and basic functions needed for the student and practicing dental professional. This is truly a great book for anyone wanting to be in the dental field!By Juan Arellano
I received the book in the mail today and very eagerly opened its pages. After reading for five minutes, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed. As an avid SDNer, I was expecting deep insights and secrets to dental admissions. However, what I read was a bunch of general information here can be easily found on the SDN forums or ADEA with a simple search. The personal statement section was way too brief and general and offered no advice that anyone who's in college wouldn't have known already. (such as, "The more brainstorming you do the better. It will also make your essay become more powerful." The "Why Dental School" chapter received only two pages, and most were generic reasons. More comprehensive information about all the dental schools can be found on the ADEA website for free. The book would make for a more interesting read if there was some humor or personal anecdotes.By SDN_fan
That being said, there are merits to this book. It would be a great resource if you are newly pre-dental and have no idea of how dental admissions' work. The 110 Common Questions were pretty informative, and the glossary of terms can be helpful if you wish to express your knowledge of dentistry during interviews.
