A resource designed for the veterinary practitioner, technician, and student in any critical care or emergency setting. This book is dedicated to the fundamental clinical signs of astute observation, careful differential diagnosis and analytical therapeutic decision making. The title clearly defines the physiological and clinical principles that are fundamental to the management of the critically ill small animal patient. This practical presentation includes clear guidelines for organizing, equipping and staffing an emergency/Critical Care unit and discusses ethical and legal concerns in Emergency/Critical Care medicine. Veterinary ICU is consistent in layout and liberally uses algorithms, diagnostic imaging and original line art. It is the product of eighty expert contributing authors who have created a concise, clinically specific resource for the specialist, residents in training, veterinary practitioners, technicians and students.

Phenomenal book - awaiting the 2nd version. This is a must read for emergency critical residents, or those veterinarians with a strong interest in ECC. Great pathophysiology without being too weighty. Definitely worth having in your ER/ICU.By Justine A. Lee

I've had this book for years, and came here looking for the second edition as I just lent my copy to a colleague. The prose is somewhat dense, but there is pathophysiology in this book that you won't quickly find elsewhere. Highly recommend for emergency/ critical care veterinarians.By Allan Berger
